Thanks to Julian (from Melting Pot Music), who sent me the link to this nice review at the Vice online mag. The author of this tiny feature discribed the Brenk album, Gumbo II, as the one, with the dopest cover ever (of an austrian record). Thanks again. And indeed, it is definitely a dope record. So, for all those, who haven't checked it out yet ... Do it! Do it! Do it!
But always remember: Only vinyl brings you the true digger feelings. Besides that you have a bit more artwork details (such as the vinyl labels ...).

What was the first thing you ever made?

As a kid: A detailed space explosion drawing with a heap of different characters. Some redrawn from comics, some self-made. It took me several days to finish it. Hmmm … somehow a kind of a personal big bang and quite similar to what I do now.

As a slightly elder kid: A "SLIME" graffiti on a backyard barn with spraycans I "found" in a hardware store.

How do you describe your work?

Free illustration with a focus on weird character design. A unique comic style, not aimed to be used for comics. Pretty ugly. Disgusting and beautiful. Humorous and serious. Somewhat psychedelic. A huge love for details and hidden goodies flows in my works. So the ones who take the time to watch a picture more intensely get a reward for that effort. While drawing I forget the time and that is something that hopefully happens to the people watching my works, too. Around 2006 I reduced my works mainly to black and white. The idea was to abandon fancy colour effects and focus on the essence of my style. The way of dealing with serious themes in a humous way is how I prefer transporting my content.

Why do you work together with Firstlines Gallery?

The philosophy of Firstlines is great. It feels like the natural way galleries should deal with their artists. But that is not that usual and easy to find. I know Florian Hubalek since school and absolutely respect and like the person he is. It feels right to present my works with him as gallery owner. I put so much energy and time of my life in my art that I wouldn't trust just anybody with representing it. In addition to that, he works absolutely professional without loosing the fun and ease that life needs so often. He believes in his artists and invests much time and confidence in their development. Besides that he has got a really great sense for undiscovered supertalents. I don't know all the firstling artists personally, but feel very comfortable being part of such a heterogeneous selection of high quality.

What is your dream project?

Sorry, I can not talk about it. Someone would steal the idea, for sure. Hopefully I will be able to realize it one day.

What is your next project?

Finishing two canvases for the BLOOOM art fair in Cologne.

What do you consider your biggest influence/inspiration for your work?

Everyday life, music and sometimes brilliant brain farts.

What inspires you about the city or the area you live and work in?

My life is kind of split. I live and work in Saarbrücken. It is cheap, there is my awesome bureau/atelier (www.bureaustabil.de), I founded in late 2010 with five amazing Designers, and I give lessons for illustration at the university. Saarbrücken is very close to the french border and lays in the 'Great Region' (GER, FR, LU). The social and cultural exchange with the neighbouring countries is a very present and unique thing. I appreciate the short trips to Luxembourg and France. Sometimes for painting, concerts, meeting friends or just for buying top notch cheese and liquors.

The other part of my life happens in Munich, my hometown. Being here is always great. My best friends and family are here and so is Firstlines. Enough reasons to come back again and again. Visiting Munich is like refueling a certain energy I could not find anywhere else.

Once again Juxtapoz magazine featured a new wall from The Weird. This time the "Alice in Weirdland" wall, I did together with DXTR, ROOKIE and NYCHOS.
And the Sixand5 magazine from France wrote about The Weird, too. A small feature about the "Teen Wolves" wall in Oberhausen and again the "Alice in Weirdland". First wall I did last weekend in Bielefeld at the Up, Down 'N Around festival 2011. A collabo with my crew buddies DXTR, ROOKIE and NYCHOS. A quick interpretation of some Alice in Wonderland characters. Mostly painted in the dark with one spot. A nice old lady from the neighbourhood brought us nice snacks and coffee. Thanks. And some other guys brought beers. Thanks galore.

Finally, the next trip to an exhibition I really was looking forward to this one for a while. This week the BLOOOM art fair opens its gates. Together with the artists RESO, AXL KLEIN and RAKS I will exhibit some works for the Art Conexxion stand.

Cone joined Streeticons

I joined the artists at Streeticons. Streeticons is a company that produces and sells graffiti/street art artworks printed on aluminium with a special shape. Each one is available in a limited series.
Among the artists you find amazing ones like WON, FLYING FORTRESS, C100, SAT ONE, BURNS and MAD C.
The first work I did therefore is "The Templar of Graff". The original drawing was also used for the book "Schwarz auf Weiß 2". It is available in two sizes and limited to 100 pieces. My work is the first one with a special production technique. You see the original aluminium material where the print is on. Like screenprints the coulour lays thick and bright on the metal. A super nice look!
The pictures here are just showing the prototype. The original pieces have a fancy detail more:
The faces of the two characters, that are comming out of the hands, are not filled with white! They are held in that brushed aluminium look with some white highlights on it. So the effect of the printed colour on this metal surface comes out much better!
As soon as I have new pictures I will post some.
This weekend you can visit the Streeticons crew at the Stroke in Berlin. A chance to watch the pieces live and direct.

These are the unofficiall t-shirts for the Nauwieser Viertel Fest 2009. Once again with the one and only NOBODY and the local tattoo artist SKULLRICH I did this one. Three artists, three times three triangles to design. I did the third, the fourth and the seventh one (starting from the top). Three colour high quality screen print of the very good cloth of CC fair trade shirts. And of course, cops (still) can't dance!

Vinyl Toy Prototype

Finally the prototype of the vinyl toy I customised for "MaxiScoot" arrived. In autumn 2007 I made the basic design therefor. Because of a huge delay with the production I decided to change the design a bit in February this year. Now I got at least some fotos of the prototype. Having done the last changes, the final production can start now. So, in autumn/winter this year my version of the toy should finally be available. It will be part of a collectors series, with ten different designs and be 3" small ... sweeeeeeeeet
